Led by the esteemed Fitzemeyer & Tocci Associates, Inc.
with D21 Architects as a vital sub-consultant, embarks on a comprehensive renovation
and upgrade of the school’s facilities. This ambitious initiative is designed to enhance
the learning environment through state-of-the-art HVAC system upgrades, meticulous
interior classroom renovations, and strategic additions and demolitions to the existing structure.
With an estimated construction budget of $1,000,000, this project signifies a significant investment
in the future of education in Mashpee, MA.
Summary of Scope of Work:
The project scope for the Kenneth C. Coombs School includes critical upgrades across
several areas:
• HVAC Upgrades: Introduction of advanced heating and cooling units featuring
versatile design options, high-efficiency DC motors, selectable static pressure
settings for optimized airflow, and adherence to strict air leakage standards per
ASHRAE Standard 193. The new units will boast a cooling capacity of 24,000 BTU/H
and a heating capacity of 27,000 BTU/H, utilizing R410A refrigerant for enhanced
performance.
• Classroom Renovation: Renovation efforts will focus on the demolition of outdated
classroom elements to create spaces that are modern and flexible, designed to
support the evolving needs of educational environments.
• Mechanical Space Expansion: The project will extend mechanical shaft spaces
to ensure seamless integration and functionality of the upgraded HVAC systems,
highlighting the project’s commitment to improving the school’s infrastructure efficiency.
Scheduled to commence in June 2024 and conclude in August 2025, the construction
phase is strategically planned to minimize disruption to the academic calendar,
